Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One

Well this is a real early heads-up on this game since it won't be out until Fall of 2011, but they just announced on the Playstation.blog that Insomniac just unveiled a new Ratchet & Clank title for the PS3 at the Gamescom event currently going on in Cologne, Germany - and it looks like fun.

The game is entitled Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One and offers an online coop adventure for up to 4 players. You can play as either Ratchet, Clank, Qwark, or Dr. Nefarious.

I've been a fan of Ratchet & Clank since I played Going Commando for the PS2. I actually bought that game for my nephew a few years back for Christmas but he had already received it from someone else so I ended up playing it myself and surprise surprise I really liked it.

If you've never played a Ratchet & Clank game you really should give this popular franchise a try. This is the first time the series has offered coop play like this and if I can convince 2 or 3 of you to get it too I'm all over it. Check out the trailer.

I'm willing to try it out. I've never played a Ratchet and Clank game except for demos and part of a PSP game.

I've been meaning to get Tools of Destruction for a while now since it's a Greatest Hits title.

I hear Insomniac also officially announced Resistance 3 today as well. I'll bet 3 will be a return to form since 2 was kind of a letdown.

Future Tools is a good game. Actually I prefered Going Commando which you could get dirt cheap sinbce it's PS2, but I suspect it is just my favorite because it was the first Ratchet & Clank game I ever tried. You know how that goes. Yeah I almost mentioned the new R3 in there too but I didn't have any vid for it and I was disappointed in R2 same as you so I didn't bother. I'm sure I will buy it though and hopefully it will bring me back into the Resistance fan club like I was big-time after R1.

Actually I did just see a vid for R3 - a teaser/trailer that shows some people riding in a train across the countryside and then fighting a bunch of Chimera. Not much to see there but it's very early so I'll hold out hopes.

I'm convinced R3 will be a vast improvement on R2. They took too much heat over R2. Also, I'm sure they'll want to pull out the stops to make sure it's better than KillZone 3.

Did you play the most recent R&C game: A Crack in Time? I tried the demo. It was pretty hard.

Also I hear that Mass Effect 2 is coming to PS3 in Jan. 11. I might try that one out.

No I have't tried Crack in Time yet, but it is on my list of games I've been meaning to get around to. It might be the next new-gen game for me. Lately I've been more in a retro mood even when it is current - like Limbo or the HD upgrade of Earthworm Jim on PSN. I've been meaning to try Mass Effect 2 on the 360 for a while but never pulled the trigger. If it is coming out on the PS3 that soon I might just wait on that one until then.

Hey, e-mail me your address and I'm going to send you some games you haven't played yet. What do you want to play?

I've got Infamous, Assassins' Creed 2, KillZone 2, Modnation Racers, Tomb Raider, Motorstorm 2, Red Dead Redemption, and Beatles Rock Band.

I'll lend out anything but LittleBigPlanet.

Cool - OK I'll shoot it over to you on e-mail. I'd play anything on that list - but the one I've full intended to get around to pretty soon is Red Dead. Do you want me to send you Future Tools or something to try? Unfortunately for a trophy whore such as yourself you will be saddened to know that it does NOT have trophy support. I'd still play it because I'm more of just a trophy slut really.

Future Tools sounds good. That was an early PS3 game so I'm ok with no trophies. The one game w/o trophies that should have had them was Metal Gear Solid 4. It was released late enough.

I played the R&C demo, Crack in Time, and for some reason it just didn't work for. Maybe I just didn't play it long enough. It was more nintendo-ish, and it seems like the Wii versions of these type of games (like Mario SuperGalaxy) are better.

I didn't try Crack in Time yet, but sometimes the demos don't give you a good feel for the full game. Bioshock was like that for me. You could always borrow one of mine one of these days and give it a litle more of a fair try before you write off the franchise. But maybe R&C just isn't for you.

Yeah, demos don't always give you a good impression. For me it can take awhile to get into a game.

For example, I was underwhelmed with the Batman Arkham Asylum demo but bought it anyway on MP's recommendation and it was one of the best games I ever played.
